Before you download: requirements and install steps

You need

• A Windows 10 or 11 computer (not a Mac).
• An internet connection once, while installing.
• Your monthly bank and credit card statements. PDF statements from Virginia Credit Union business checking and Chase credit cards import directly; any bank's CSV or QFX download works too, and many other PDF statements read as well.

Install in three steps

1. Unzip the download to a folder you'll keep, such as Documents\Solo Accounting.
2. Double-click install.cmd. Windows may say "Windows protected your PC" because the file came from the internet — click More info, then Run anyway. The installer downloads the free Node.js runtime the app runs on (about 30 MB) and puts a Solo Accounting shortcut on your Desktop.
3. Open the shortcut. The app opens in your web browser; click the How to use tab for a step-by-step guide.

Good to know

• Everything runs on your computer. The app never sends your data anywhere, and Hendercap never sees it.
• It backs itself up automatically. Updating is as simple as replacing the folder with a newer download — your books are kept separately.
• This is a beta and a bookkeeping tool, not tax advice: keep your statements, check important numbers, and talk to your tax preparer about your return. Read the license and terms.
• Not built for payroll, inventory, invoicing, or more than two owners.
